Hello,

Just a reminder that this Tuesday (March 22nd) is our Induction Ceremony. If you are being inducted, please meet us in the lobby of the Fine Arts Building no later than 4:30 pm. We will direct you to the correct room to get everyone in the correct line-up order. We will be having our weekly officer meeting on Tuesday, however it will be in the Fine Arts theater. We are going to do a run through of the Induction Ceremony.

March 15th Meeting Minutes

Phi Theta Kappa Meeting March 15th, 2016

Meeting Time: 1:45 p.m. in FA 250

  • Call to order (1:55 p.m.)
  • Introduction – officers have shared what they have wanted to become when they were little
  • Election took place during the meeting and Mizuki was elected as a VP of Scholarship and Emily was elected as a VP of Service. Congratulations and Welcome!!!
  • Induction Ceremony – on Tuesday, March 22nd
  • 1 person is volunteering
  • Officer meeting will be held in FA Theatre
  • Rehearsal is at 3:30 p.m.
  • Fellowship Event is on Friday, March 25th– Dinner at 5:00 p.m. at B-52s
  • Melissa and Dominique are inviting St.Paul College chapter for the play.
  • 2nd Fellowship Event is on Friday, April 15th – Vicky is arranging room on campus
  • First come first serve on Registration

  • Introduction – officers have shared if they prefer reading Hardcover, paperback or Ebook version of books
  • PTK officers have been working on reviewing budget for the current school year and planning Induction, Fellowship Event.
  • Members Meeting has been successful and many new members have attended the meeting.
  • Regional Conference in Anoka Ramsey – Melissa and Salina will be joining later
  • Leaving on Friday, March 4th at 9:30 a.m.
  • Induction Ceremony – on Tuesday, March 22nd
  • Fellowship Event is on Friday, March 25th.
  • 2nd Fellowship Event has been discussed among officers and will be held in April.

Regional Conference Update

Congratulations to everyone at the Regional Conference this weekend! Our chapter received the 5 star chapter plan award, 2nd runner up for our Honors in Action project, Most Distinguished Chapter Officer Team Award and 3rd runner up for Most Distinguished Chapter in the Minn-Kota Region! In addition, Advisor Vicky Knickerbocker won the Continued Excellence Award and Nicki Bottko won the Horizon Award for advisors!

Phi Theta Kappa Meeting February 23th, 2016

  • Call to order (1:51 p.m.)
  • Introduction – officers have shared their nicknames and how they got it.
  • We have welcomed a new officer Mizuki in our team.
  • Christina Royal joined and introduced AAUW Scholarships and its promotion of equity of women. Our chapter’s Treasurer Salina won the scholarship last time. Congratulations!
  • PTK officers shared their ideas with Christina Royal on – putting an award showcase on campus for different clubs and organizations
  • Adding ihptk.org link to the IHCC website
  • Including members meeting on Student Bulletin Board
  • Introducing our HIA project on College Update for faculty
  • Adding back Disability Services presentation on college orientation
  • Members Meeting – on Tuesday, March 1st
  • New PTK video, scholarship information will be added
  • Regional Conference in Anoka Ramsey – Melissa and Salina will be joining later

Mark your calendars for our next Members Meeting, which is this upcoming Tuesday, (March 1st) from 1-2 pm in CC117. We are planning a Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship 101 session, because the Spring 2016 Scholarship application opens up on March 1st! Election Next Week

Attention all Inver Hills Community College PTK members: Next week during our officer meeting we will hold another election for Vice President of Scholarship. The job description for Vice President of Scholarship includes:
1) Carefully study PTK International’s Honors in Action Project
2) Plan and lead February-August choice of – and scholarly research on – the Project.
3) Plan and lead Summer-Fall Honors in Action Project.
4) Plan and lead writing of the Project’s required Hallmark Award report Oct. – Jan. Write final copy.
5) Coordinate with Chair of HIA Project.
6) Report on the status of the HIA Project at each meeting.
If you are interested in Vice President of Scholarship, you must come to our officer meeting in FA250 from 1:45 – 2:45 pm on Tuesday, February 23rd. Next week we will also be having Dr. Christina Royal join us as a guest at our officer meeting. She is going to share about ways that the IHCC administration can continue to support PTK. We would love for you to come.
